CEX.IO’s 50 USDC Halloween referral is US-only, capped at 50

A US-only promotion behind a ‘select countries’ post

CEX.IO promoted a Halloween referral campaign on its official X account on 23 October 2026 with a simple ladder: one friend brings up to 50 USDC, three friends up to 150 USDC and five friends up to 250 USDC, plus the exchange’s usual 30% commission on what those friends trade afterwards. The post says the offer closes on 31 October and is ‘available in select countries’.

The official rules are more specific. They are titled for the US, name CEX.IO Corp. as the sponsor and open the promotion only to legal residents of the United States, in jurisdictions where CEX.IO may lawfully offer it. The campaign landing page says the same in shorter form: verified users in supported US states, with both the referrer and the invited friend meeting that requirement. Readers in the Netherlands, elsewhere in the EU, the UK or Türkiye cannot take part.

Fifty referrals for everyone, not five for you

The most important limit is not in the X post. According to the official rules, the reward pool for the entire promotion is capped at the first 50 qualifying referrals, awarded strictly in the order CEX.IO’s systems record them as complete. Each qualifying referral produces two credits of 50 USDC, one for the referrer and one for the new user, so CEX.IO will pay out at most 100 credits, or 5,000 USDC in total.

That cap is shared by all US participants. Inviting five friends does not reserve five places, and once 50 referrals have qualified the landing page says the 50 USDC reward is no longer available, even if 31 October has not yet arrived. CEX.IO has not published a live counter, so there is no public way to check how many places remain. The ‘up to 250 USDC’ in the X post is therefore a ceiling for one person, not an expected result.

What counts as a qualifying referral

The referrer copies a personal invite link from the Referral section of their CEX.IO account. The friend must register through that link during the promotion period, be a genuinely new user who has never had a CEX.IO account, and complete identity verification. The qualifying step under the rules is a first deposit of at least $100 in fiat currency through a supported payment channel; peer-to-card (P2C) transfers do not count, and a deposit that is reversed or charged back is invalidated.

The landing page also mentions buying $100 of crypto as an alternative, but the official rules only describe the fiat deposit, so the rules are the safer guide. The referrer must have made at least one deposit of any size at some point; existing customers who have deposited before already meet that condition. Rewards appear in the in-app Notification Center or Reward Center to be claimed, and CEX.IO says the review can take one to two days. CEX.IO may pay the reward in another digital asset of equivalent value at its discretion, and the credit cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.

Dates and fine print

The official rules set the period from 14 October 2026, 00:00 UTC, to 31 October 2026, 23:59 UTC; the landing page gives 15 October as the start date. Either way, the end date matches the X post. CEX.IO can withhold or claw back rewards for self-referrals, multiple accounts, VPN circumvention, spam, or for cycling funds between accounts to meet the deposit condition.

The rules also require anyone promoting their invite link in public, for example on social media or a blog, to disclose clearly that they may receive a reward. The 50 USDC is paid in addition to CEX.IO’s standard referral commission, which remains governed by its separate referral programme terms.
