A token listing, not a payment-card offer

OKX Europe announced CARDS/USD and CARDS/EUR spot markets, scheduled to open on 22 September 2026 at 09:00 UTC. The notice concerns trading a token named CARDS. It does not announce a debit card, card cashback or a signup reward.

For someone who already follows the asset, a new pair can change the route used to buy or sell it. The pair’s second symbol identifies the currency in which its price is displayed. It does not, by itself, explain every balance that the platform allows you to use for settlement. That is particularly relevant to the unified USD market described in this announcement.

Reading the two pair names

In a pair such as CARDS/EUR, CARDS is the asset being priced and EUR is the quote currency. A hypothetical price of €2 means two euros for one CARDS unit before applicable costs. Fifty units at that invented price would have a gross value of €100.

The USD pair needs one additional explanation. OKX’s official guide says its unified USD order book combines liquidity for USD and supported dollar-pegged stablecoins. The displayed USD name therefore does not necessarily require an existing fiat-dollar balance. Available choices are shown in the order panel, and availability can differ by account and pair.

The order panel determines what you spend and receive

The official USD guide directs users to the Trade with and Receive selectors. These identify the eligible assets used on the relevant side of the transaction. When counterparties use different assets, OKX handles the conversion within the unified system. Choosing a supported settlement asset adds no separate charge, according to that guide; the account’s normal maker or taker fee still applies.

This means two questions should be answered before confirming an order: what asset will leave the balance, and what asset will arrive? A market label is not a complete transaction receipt. The actual selectors and preview are more useful than assuming that a familiar stablecoin always appears as its own separate market.

Price control and immediate execution are different choices

OKX explains that a limit order sets the maximum purchase price or minimum selling price. It may remain unfilled. A market order seeks immediate execution against available orders, so its eventual average price can differ from the last price displayed.

Imagine a fictional order book offering 20 units at €2 and another 30 units at €2.10. Buying all 50 would cost €103 before fees: €40 for the first portion and €63 for the second. The average is €2.06, despite the first visible price being €2. A limit of €2 would not authorize the more expensive portion, although the unfilled amount would then depend on the order’s execution instruction. These invented numbers explain price levels; they are not a current CARDS quote.

A limit order does not automatically get maker pricing

The same OKX guide distinguishes adding an order to the book from immediately matching an existing one. Maker treatment depends on supplying resting liquidity; an immediately matched limit order can be a taker. The name of the order type therefore cannot establish the fee rate by itself.

For a separate arithmetic example, a hypothetical 0.2% charge on €103 would be €0.206 before rounding. That percentage is invented and is not a quoted OKX rate. The example shows the sequence: work out the filled value, then apply the actual charge shown for the account. Spread, execution price and fees are different parts of the final result.

What the announcement does and does not confirm

The listing notice says to check regional availability in the app. Its scheduled opening is an announced date, not proof that a particular account can trade the market now. The notice does not set out a temporary reward campaign or a special CARDS fee discount.

A useful check is to open the relevant market, inspect the available settlement choices and read the order preview before treating the pair as usable for an intended transaction. This is also where the permanent discount-code box on this site needs to stay separate from the news: an existing code is not evidence that this listing includes an additional promotion.

The practical change is a pair of announced trading routes. Understanding the quote currency, the settlement asset and the order’s execution behavior makes that change much easier to use than simply reading the two ticker combinations in isolation.

  • Read the price

Invented example: 50 units at €2 have €100 gross value before costs.

  • Follow a market fill

    Several price levels

    Invented book: 20 × €2 plus 30 × €2.10 totals €103, or €2.06 per unit.

  • Check the fee role

A limit can still take liquidity

An immediately matched limit can be a taker. Check the execution and account fee rather than relying on the order label.

WHAT TO REMEMBER
  • CARDS/USD and CARDS/EUR are token trading pairs.
  • An immediately matched limit order can be a taker.
