What Base announced
Base now has a date for Denim on mainnet. Base Build, the developer account of the Base network, posted on 29 October 2026 that Denim is live on Base Sepolia, the test network, "with Mainnet coming November 5". Base's main account quoted it shortly after with "Denim is coming".
Until now the only public timing was "November 2026". When we covered the upgrade on 23 October, Base's documentation gave that month as a planning target, and the documentation pages still showed it that way when we checked them on 29 October.
What Denim changes
Denim is the upgrade that brings native 200ms blocks to Base. According to Base's documentation, the network goes from one block every two seconds to five full blocks per second. It also adds BaseTime for onchain millisecond time, millisecond timestamps in RPC responses, and changes to B20 transfers and policies. On Sepolia it has been running since 21 October at 18:00 UTC.
What it means for users and builders
For people who simply send USDC or use apps on Base, the visible effect should be confirmations that arrive faster. Developers have more to check: Base's documentation says block numbers advance ten times faster, so anything that measures time in blocks, such as timelocks, needs reviewing. The documentation also says the node software versions needed for mainnet had not been published yet, and calls the mainnet date a target that can change, not a fixed activation time.
Our take
A firm date is useful mainly for builders, who now have about a week to test on Sepolia and update node software once it is released. Everyday users do not need to do anything. If you want to try Base apps as Denim lands, the Base app is linked on this page.
