An outside risk manager now runs Aave V4 markets

Aave announced on its official X account on 22 October 2026 that the first externally curated markets on Aave V4 are now live. The strategy behind them comes from Sentora, a DeFi firm that works with institutions. Until now, the markets on Aave were set up under the protocol’s own process. With external curation, an independent team picks the collateral and other settings for its own set of markets while using the same V4 code as every other Aave market.

Aave Labs’ blog post on the launch describes Sentora as combining strategy design, risk management and coverage, and says it has allocated more than $2 billion across onchain strategies. Those are Sentora’s own figures as reported by Aave; Exchange.news has not checked them independently.

Three markets and what each one lends

Sentora runs a dedicated Liquidity Hub on Ethereum, and all three new markets borrow from it. In the RLUSD Yield market, users can borrow RLUSD, Ripple’s dollar stablecoin, against USDe, PRIME, mWIN or PST. The OUSD Yield market accepts the same four collateral assets but lends OUSD instead. The Bluechip market takes kBTC as collateral and lets users borrow RLUSD, PYUSD or OUSD.

The split is practical. The two yield markets are for people who already hold yield-bearing dollar tokens and want to borrow a stablecoin against them, while the Bluechip market serves bitcoin exposure in the form of kBTC. Aave did not publish borrowing rates, loan-to-value limits, supply caps or any launch incentive in the announcement, so those numbers have to be read in the interface before opening a position. Aave says the markets are available today on Aave Pro.

How curation fits the Hub and Spoke design

Aave V4 separates where money sits from how it is lent. A Liquidity Hub holds deposits. Spokes are the markets that borrow from a Hub, and each Spoke has its own collateral list and risk rules. External curation lets a manager such as Sentora operate its own Hub and Spokes, so the choice of assets and parameters belongs to that manager rather than to a single protocol-wide setting.

Aave stresses that this does not hand over the protocol. Every curated Hub works inside limits set by Aave governance: Aave DAO keeps ownership of the contracts, any change that increases risk has to wait through a 48-hour timelock, and new assets still go through governance review before they are listed. For a borrower, the timelock means a riskier change to a market is visible for two days before it takes effect, which gives time to adjust or repay a loan.
