What Aster changed

Aster announced on its official X account on 23 October 2026 that hidden positions will no longer count towards OI Points in its USD1 RWA Boost campaign. The rule applies from Epoch 9, which starts on 26 October 2026 at 00:00 UTC. A hidden position is one that is not shown publicly on the exchange's position displays; until now such positions could still collect open-interest points like any other holding on the eligible pairs.

Aster says the change only touches OI Points. Trading Points, the other half of the scoring, stay as they are. The updated campaign page in Aster's documentation carries the same notice at the top of the rules. The announcement does not say why the rule was changed, and it does not say whether points already earned from hidden positions in Epochs 1 to 8 are affected, so nothing here suggests that past points are being removed.

How the USD1 RWA Boost pays out

Phase 1 of the campaign runs from 31 August to 31 December 2026 and is split into weekly epochs that start on Monday at 00:00 and end on Sunday at 23:59. Aster has set aside 125 million $WLFI and 6.25 million USD1 for the whole phase, divided equally across the epochs. Trading Points decide each trader's share of the USD1 pool, while OI Points, which measure positions held over time, decide the share of the $WLFI pool. The eligible markets are perpetual contracts quoted in USD1 on real-world assets: SPCX, CL, XAU, SNDK, SKHYNIX, MU and GPRO, a list Aster says may change.

Margin matters too. In Multi-Asset Mode, USD1 has to make up more than half of the perpetual account balance at each five-minute snapshot; in Single-Asset Mode, positions that use USD1 as collateral qualify. Grid Bot accounts have been eligible since 21 September 2026 and are scored separately. Trading Points equal eligible taker volume multiplied by a factor of 0.1 + 0.9 × min(1, 5R)², where R is a pair's 24-hour average open interest divided by its 24-hour taker volume. In plain terms, traders who churn volume without holding positions earn as little as a tenth of their volume in points, and the full multiplier needs open interest of at least a fifth of taker volume.

What changes for a trader

Anyone who keeps positions hidden on the eligible USD1 pairs and wants $WLFI rewards from Epoch 9 onwards would need those positions to be visible for them to earn OI Points. Rewards from the USD1 pool, which depend on Trading Points, are not affected by the choice. Because each epoch's pool is fixed, positions that drop out of the OI count also change how the $WLFI pool is shared among everyone else.

Perpetual contracts on assets such as gold, oil and single stocks are leveraged products and can lose value quickly, and campaign points are not guaranteed rewards. Aster's announcement does not mention which regions can take part, so readers should check the campaign page and their own local rules before trading for points.
