At a glance
- What changed
- Binance has replenished about 98% of the assets affected by the security incident and published a wider Proof of Reserves snapshot covering 44 tokens.
- Who it affects
- Binance users, especially holders of tokens covered by the new snapshot who want to verify their balances are backed at least 1:1.
- When
- Binance published Recovery Update #7 at 15:23 UTC on Wednesday 4 November 2026 (16:23 in Amsterdam). The snapshot was taken at 00:00 UTC that day; the proof needs about 50 to 60 hours.
98% of the affected amount is now replenished
Binance has moved closer to fully covering the losses from the 29 October security incident. In Security Incident Recovery Update #7, published on its announcement page at 15:23 UTC on Wednesday 4 November 2026 (16:23 in Amsterdam) and shared on its official X account minutes later, the exchange said it has now replenished approximately 98% of the impacted amount.
Binance repeated that it will cover the cost of the stolen funds from its own resources, not its users, and said it had already set aside more than 100% of the funds needed. It is still buying the remaining token assets through market and OTC channels, but warned that purchases for the last 2% are expected to be slower because these tokens are less liquid. On 31 October, in Update #3, Binance had reported about 90% replenished.
A wider Proof of Reserves snapshot: 44 tokens instead of 10
The second part of the update concerns transparency. Binance took a new Proof of Reserves snapshot at 00:00 UTC on 4 November. It covers 44 tokens, up from 10 in the previous snapshot of 31 October, and is available on the Binance PoR website. Binance says the snapshot gives an updated view of assets that are fully accounted for.
As with the earlier snapshot, the full zero-knowledge proof takes time to compute. Binance expects it to take approximately 50 to 60 hours. Once it is generated, users holding any of the covered tokens will be able to verify for themselves that their balances are at least 1:1 backed.
What comes next
Binance says it will keep acquiring the remaining assets, reopen withdrawals in phases and strengthen its safeguards, with more updates as progress continues. The update does not name the 44 tokens or which tokens make up the remaining 2%, so check the Binance PoR website for the covered list and the withdrawal page for the live status of each network and asset. Exchange.news will report the next official update.
