The desktop launch

fomo launched its web experience on 29 April 2026. Existing users sign in with the same email or Apple ID to access their profile, balances, positions, follows and notification preferences. The release brings trading, token pages, theses and social discovery to a larger screen. At launch, new web users could fund with crypto; Apple Pay and debit-card funding were available through mobile. That distinction describes the announced launch flow, not a promise that every funding method is identical across devices.

One identity still needs device-level protection

fomo’s security explanation says the account is tied to email or Apple ID, while biometric settings apply per device. It describes an embedded, non-custodial wallet with exportable private keys and an interface that handles supported cross-chain operations. The explanation is the company’s account of its architecture, not an independent security audit. A convenient sign-in method does not make the underlying email or Apple account irrelevant to wallet access.

Follow one purchase across two screens

Imagine a fictional user researching a token on a laptop while keeping the phone nearby. The account initially holds two hundred dollars of available balance. The user completes a fifty-dollar purchase on the laptop. Ignoring costs and price changes in this illustration, the account now has one hundred fifty dollars available plus the newly acquired holding. Opening the same account on the phone should be understood as viewing that same economic state, not receiving another two hundred dollars to spend.

If the phone has not refreshed, an old visible number can be mistaken for a second balance. The appropriate question is whether the screen reflects the completed transaction, rather than whether the user can repeat the intended purchase immediately. A second purchase would be a new action and could double the intended exposure. This example is about interpreting a shared account; it is not a claim that fomo’s interface normally fails to refresh.

The same logic applies to a sale. Closing a position from one screen changes the shared holding. A second screen showing the old position would need to reconcile with the actual completed transaction. The device is a viewing and control surface, while the account activity is the event being tracked.

Use the larger screen to compare context

Consider another invented reading task. A user sees a thesis published on Monday, a purchase linked to it and a later sale on Thursday. On a larger display, the person wants to compare the reasoning, the chart and the sequence without repeatedly losing their place. The useful result is a clearer understanding of what happened, not simply more simultaneous information.

If the token’s price rose sharply before the user opened the page on Friday, the Monday reasoning must be read in its original time context. The existing trader may have acted at a different price and may no longer hold the same amount. A wider layout can make those differences easier to inspect, but it cannot make the Friday opportunity identical to the Monday one.

A practical comparison therefore starts by aligning the dates. What did the author know when the thesis was written? Which trade followed? What changed afterward? These questions turn a busy social page into an intelligible sequence. They also avoid confusing the popularity of an old post with evidence about a new transaction.

Switching devices is not the same as moving assets

In a final fictional example, a person wants to continue reading a token page after leaving the desk. Using the same account on the phone is a continuity task. Sending crypto to a different wallet would be an asset-transfer task. The two should not be conflated merely because both involve changing where the person is looking.

That is the main practical benefit of the desktop release: the user can choose a screen suited to the immediate task without constructing a second trading identity. Research may benefit from more space, while a later check may be easier on a phone. The launch establishes that connection between interfaces. It does not require the user to place more trades, treat repeated displays as separate balances or infer that every mobile funding control must exist on the web version.

Read one fictional account on two screens

Choose a step in this invented example.

Read one fictional account on two screens
CaseWhat it means
PhoneA 250-unit balance

The phone displays 250 units in an invented account.

LaptopThe same 250 units

A second view of that account does not add another 250 units.

TotalAvoid double-counting

Two screens showing the same holding still represent 250 units, not 500.

Illustrative example only. No live quote, account action or guaranteed outcome.
