The catalogue passes 1,000
Kraken says more than 1,000 xStocks are now available on its platform. The exchange announced the milestone on its official X account on 22 October 2026, pitching it as a way to invest in more familiar companies alongside crypto from a single Kraken account.
xStocks are tokens that track the price of US-listed shares and exchange-traded funds. The announcement artwork shows logos of large US technology companies, but Kraken did not publish a list of which names were added to reach the new total, or say how many arrived in this batch. The post repeats that the products are not available in the United States or to US persons and that other geographic restrictions apply.
How xStocks work on Kraken
According to Kraken’s getting-started guide, each xStock is backed 1:1 by the underlying equity and issued on-chain as a Solana SPL token. On Kraken they are marked with an x after the usual ticker. They trade 24 hours a day, five days a week inside the app, and can be withdrawn to a compatible Solana or Ethereum wallet, where they trade around the clock on-chain. Kraken says weekend trading in its own app is still in development.
Purchases start at $1 and can be funded with fiat money, crypto or stablecoins. Kraken charges no trading fee when xStocks are bought with USDG or USD; standard Instant Buy fees apply when paying with other assets, and a spread may be built into the quoted price. Dividends are reinvested automatically by increasing the xStock balance, after any withholding tax.
To unlock trading, a verified client opens the Buy section, selects an xStock, accepts updated terms, confirms they are not in the US or a US person and confirms their address. Kraken’s guide lists the US, Canada, the UK and Australia among the places where xStocks are not offered.
Exposure, not shareholder rights
More choice does not change what the product is. Kraken’s risk disclosure says xStocks are issued by Backed Assets (JE) Limited, a Jersey company, and offered to certain Kraken clients by Payward Digital Solutions Ltd. in Bermuda. Holders get exposure to a share’s price but not the share itself: no voting rights, no legal claim on the underlying stock and no claim on company assets in a liquidation.
Kraken’s guide also notes that xStocks cannot be moved to a traditional broker. The disclosure warns that product fees mean returns will not exactly match holding the shares directly, and that investors can lose their entire investment.
