Moonshot launches Auto Sell take-profit orders, powered by Definitive

Moonshot, the self-custodial memecoin trading app, announced Auto Sell on its official X account on 27 October 2026. The pitch is short: stop staying up all night watching charts, because Auto Sell takes profit for you even when you are offline. Moonshot says the feature is live now and powered by Definitive, whose Definitive Flash branding closes the launch video.

The 16-second video walks through the flow. From a token's sell screen you open an Auto sell row, then pick a price target from quick options of +25%, +50% or +100%, or set a custom level. The sheet shows the price the token would need to reach, notes that orders expire after 30 days and are then cancelled, and warns that sell price and amounts are not guaranteed. You choose how much to sell, swipe to submit, and the app says it will notify you when an Auto Sell completes.

What the terms say about how it works

Moonshot's Terms of Use, in the version effective from 16 October 2026, include a dedicated Auto Sell section that fills in what the post leaves out. An Auto Sell is an instruction you sign in advance; unless the app says otherwise, it triggers only if the token's price rises to your target. It is designed to sell the full amount you chose in a single transaction, into USDC or another asset shown in the app.

The terms are explicit that this is not a stop-loss and does not limit losses. They also say Moonshot itself does not monitor prices or fill the orders: once signed, an Auto Sell can be executed by a third party, including a protocol Moonshot selects, without any further action from you. Order statuses and notifications in the app are described as a convenience that may be delayed or inaccurate.

The limits to know before you set one

Execution is not guaranteed and can be partial. Your target is a trigger, not a minimum price, so slippage and transaction ordering can mean a sale below the level you picked. If the target is already met when you submit, the order may be rejected or fill immediately at the market price. Fees, including any one-time setup fee, may apply when you place an order or when it executes, as shown in the app.

Placing an Auto Sell also requires a standing authorization that lets the tokens be moved from your wallet without another signature. According to the terms, that permission can outlast the order itself until it is revoked, including when you next cancel an Auto Sell. Cancelling may need a new blockchain transaction with fees, is not instant, and the order can still execute first. An order can be cancelled automatically if you sell or move tokens so your wallet holds less than the amount covered, and it may stay active with the executing protocol even if the app no longer shows it.

How to read it as a trader

Auto Sell answers one specific problem: memecoin moves often happen while you are away, and a pre-signed take-profit order can catch an upside spike you would otherwise miss. It does nothing for a falling token, so it is a profit-taking tool, not risk management. Because the approval it needs can persist after an order fills or expires, it is worth cancelling unused orders and checking what your wallet still authorizes.
