What OKX announced

OKX introduced Simple Options on its official X account on 4 November 2026, tying the launch to the current company earnings season. The first underlying assets are tokenized stocks, the tokens on OKX that track the price of listed shares. The post names four strategies, says a trade can start from exposure to a single tokenized share, and promises that the premium, the breakeven price and the possible outcomes are shown before a trade is placed.

In a follow-up reply OKX added the key limit: Simple Options are open only in eligible jurisdictions, and the USA and the EEA are excluded. That means customers of OKX Europe, including in the Netherlands and the rest of the European Economic Area, cannot use the product, and OKX asks everyone else to check their local eligibility before trading.

How the product works

OKX's product guide, first published on 22 October 2026, fills in the details. The contracts are European-style, so they can only be exercised at expiry; there is no early exercise or early assignment. OKX says crypto options are planned later, but at launch only tokenized stocks are supported, and the guide points users to the trading page for the current list of contracts.

Trades work by request for quote. You pick the underlying, the direction, call or put, the expiry and the strike from the Simple Options chain, and the system returns a quote that is valid for a short time. If it expires you refresh it; OKX does not fill the order at a new price on its own. The guide describes the price as all-in: there is no separate commission, and the quoted premium already includes a spread kept by OKX and its affiliates.

The smallest trade is 0.01 contract. With a standard multiplier of 100, one full contract covers 100 tokenized shares, so 0.01 contract corresponds to one share. Premiums are paid and received in USDT, quotes and trading run around the clock, and for contracts close to expiry, opening, adding to or closing positions stops 30 seconds before settlement. Positions can be added to, closed in part or in full before expiry, or left to settle automatically.

Buyers, sellers and settlement

A buyer pays the premium up front, and that premium is the most a buyer can lose. Buyers who hold to expiry are settled in USDT: a call pays the amount by which the settlement price is above the strike, a put the amount by which it is below, multiplied by the contract size. If the option finishes out of the money it simply expires, and the premium is not returned.

Sellers must fully fund their position when they open it. Selling a put locks USDT equal to the strike times the contract size; selling a call locks the underlying tokenized shares themselves. In return there are no margin calls and no forced liquidation while the position is open, and options positions sit in a separate account from the main trading account. If the option ends in the money, the seller is assigned: a put seller buys the shares at the strike and a call seller hands over the shares at the strike, even if the market has moved far beyond it.

Settlement happens at 16:00 Hong Kong time (UTC+8) on expiry day, using the average underlying index price between 15:30 and 16:00. OKX points out that this window falls outside US exchange trading hours, so the settlement price can differ from the share's last price on its home exchange. Stock splits and other corporate actions can change the strike, the multiplier or the deliverable assets.

What to weigh before trading

Simple Options make a familiar idea easier to reach, but the risks are the same as with any option. A bought option can go to zero within days, and selling one only brings in a small, fixed premium while the seller carries the obligation to buy or sell at the strike. The Hong Kong settlement window and the spread built into each quote are worth checking before every trade, since neither is visible from the share price alone.

OKX's announcement does not say whether any fee discount applies to Simple Options, and the all-in pricing means there is no separate trading fee to reduce. The OKX code on this page is for eligible trading fees on other OKX products.
