Base opens Trencher Grant Program with $1,000 to $5,000 for meme-community leaders and creators

What Base announced

Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network incubated by Coinbase, introduced the Trencher Grant Program in a short thread on its official X account on 26 October 2026. The headline offer is simple: up to $5,000 for leading a community or creating content about Base culture. A follow-up post sets the range at $1,000 to $5,000 per grant.

The money is not the only part. Base says recipients also get a direct line to the Base team and a place in a Telegram group chat with Base team members and other community leaders. "Trencher" is crypto slang for someone active in the trenches of on-chain meme trading, and the program is aimed squarely at that crowd.

Who Base wants to hear from

Base lists three groups: leaders of meme communities on Base, admins running trading communities on Base, and content creators posting about Base culture and memes. A later post widens the invitation slightly to anyone hosting events around Base culture.
