Fee rebates for frequent traders
Coinbase Wallet introduced a loyalty program on 20 October for active and consistent traders. It returns up to half of the eligible swap fees a wallet pays, in USDC, every week. There is no code to enter and nothing to claim: rebates accumulate automatically and are shown under Rewards on the app’s home screen.
The rebate rate depends on a “Trader Status” calculated from eligible volume over the previous 30 days. Explorer, below $5,000, earns nothing back. Trencher starts at $5,000 with 15%, Pro at $25,000 with 30%, Legend at $100,000 with 40% and VIP at $500,000 with 50%. VIP traders are also promised a direct line to the product team, early previews and invitations to private dinners and events.
How the rebate is calculated
The program terms, last updated on 5 October 2026 and operated by Coinbase Bermuda Technologies Limited, apply the tier percentage to the fee Coinbase Wallet actually keeps. Any part of a fee passed to a third-party protocol is deducted first, and network and gas costs never count. The terms give their own example: on a 100 USDC fee with 5 USDC going to a protocol, a 30% tier returns 28.50 USDC.
At launch, both eligible swaps and eligible perpetuals trades that generate a fee count. Fee-free trades do not, and Coinbase may exclude particular assets, products or trading patterns. The rebate from any single trade is capped at $10,000. There is no weekly, monthly or lifetime cap per user under the current offer, but combined rebates and other benefits can never exceed the fees Coinbase collected.
Tiers move daily and drop gradually
Status is recalculated daily, and a higher tier applies straight away. If trading slows, a wallet falls by one tier per week rather than straight to the bottom. Each wallet has its own status, so volume spread across several wallets does not combine.
Rebates are paid in USDC, normally on Wednesdays. Before a payout, Coinbase may ask a user to link a Coinbase account or complete identity, tax or other enrolment steps, which can vary by country and by the amount received. Amounts shown in the app can remain pending until settlement.
Who can take part, including the Netherlands
Participants must be at least 18 and pass identity, sanctions and fraud checks, and must live in and use the app from a country where the program is available. Unless the app says otherwise, the program uses the same country exclusions as the Coinbase Wallet referral program: the Dominican Republic, Italy, Latvia, Malta, the Philippines, Singapore, Slovenia, the United Kingdom and all OFAC-sanctioned countries.
The Netherlands is not on that list, so Dutch residents are not excluded by the published terms. Coinbase can change the list at any time, and the app’s own eligibility check decides in the end. Rebates may also have tax consequences, which the terms leave to each user.
Stacking it with the new-user offers
New users who create a wallet through an existing user’s invitation get a 10% discount on eligible swap fees. This applies to native same-chain swaps in the app’s Trade tab; bridging and cross-chain swaps are excluded. The person who invited them earns 25% of the net fees Coinbase Wallet collects on those swaps, paid in USDC once at least 0.50 USDC has accrued and capped at $100,000 a month.
Invited users can also earn a First Swap Bonus of up to $35 in USDC: $10 for a first qualifying swap of at least $100, and $25 for a first swap of at least $250 if that second tier is offered. The wallet’s total balance must stay at or above $75 or $187.50 respectively for a 30-day lockup period, although the swapped assets themselves remain free to move. The loyalty rebate is calculated after the 10% discount, so the benefits stack on the lower fee.
What it means in practice
The program matters mainly to people who trade regularly in the wallet. Below $5,000 of monthly volume the rebate is zero, and the first rebate tier returns 15% of the fee Coinbase keeps. As an illustration, a wallet at the 30% tier that would pay a 1.00 USDC fee, with no protocol share and the 10% invitation discount, pays 0.90 USDC and receives 0.27 USDC back the following Wednesday.
The Base discount code shown on this page gives new wallets the same 10% swap-fee discount described in the referral terms when it is entered during onboarding.
