Scammers target the withdrawal restart

Binance has warned its users that scammers may try to exploit the phased restart of withdrawals that followed the 29 October security incident. In a post titled "Security Reminder: Stay Alert to Scams as Withdrawals Resume" on its official X account at 14:35 UTC on Monday 2 November 2026 (15:35 in Amsterdam), the exchange said "opportunistic scammers may try to take advantage of this period."

According to Binance, the impersonators may reach users through direct messages, emails, group chats and even small transfers with a message attached. Their pitches offer to "speed up withdrawals," give "priority processing," help users "claim compensation" or move assets into a "Binance vault".

Nine things Binance says it will never do

Binance listed what it will never do: contact users first about their account or funds, offer or sell a place in the withdrawal queue, charge a fee to unlock a network or asset, or ask users to connect a wallet, sign, authorize anything or transfer funds to "unlock" a withdrawal.

It also said it will never ask users to move assets into a "vault", "safe account", "secured wallet" or any address provided by someone else, send an "eligibility", "status" or "compensation claim" link, ask for a password, 2FA codes or seed phrase, point users to an unofficial Proof of Reserves site, or offer paid "asset recovery" services. Binance noted that once a user connects, signs or authorizes a request, third parties can move their assets, and that on-chain transactions are usually irreversible.

What Binance tells users to do

For a withdrawal that is still pending, Binance said users should check its status in the Binance app, adding that "anyone promising to expedite it for a fee is scamming you." It asked users to rely only on the official Binance app and official channels for updates, and to check whether a channel, account or website is real on its official verification page.

Anyone who sees something suspicious, or thinks their account may be at risk, should change their password right away, review their security settings and contact in-app Customer Support, Binance said. Exchange.news will keep covering official Binance updates on the incident, including the next withdrawal phase and the 4 November Proof of Reserves snapshot Binance has announced.
