The October schedule
Bitvavo has published staking rates effective from 5 October 2026 for customers using its Earn service. The schedule lists SOL at 3.40% for Fixed Staking and 1.10% for Flex, with ETH at 2.00% and 0.60% respectively. LPT has the highest listed Fixed rate, 23.50%, compared with 7.80% for Flex. The announcement also describes lending rewards as variable, linked to how much of an asset is being used. These figures are a dated schedule, not a promise that every future allocation will receive the same rate.
The practical comparison is between access conditions for the same asset. A Fixed rate sits beside a lower Flex rate because a customer commits the balance for a period, rather than keeping it immediately available.
What the two routes mean
Staking helps support blockchain networks that use proof of stake, a system in which committed crypto helps secure the network. Bitvavo's Auto Earn combines flexible staking with lending, where assets are made available to other parties. Fixed Staking requires Auto Earn first.
Annual percentage yield, or APY, expresses a rate over a year, not a weekly payment. Flex balances remain available for sale or withdrawal, with Monday rewards. Fixed pays at term end. Crypto-denominated rewards do not guarantee a larger euro value.
Flexible rewards use the lowest eligible daily balance, including assets in open orders. A late deposit therefore should not be treated as if it were present throughout that day. The amount visible on payday alone does not establish the balance used for every daily calculation.
A Fixed term has a defined exit cost
The dedicated Fixed Staking guide describes thirty-day terms. Customers select an asset in Earn, inspect its rate, duration and any minimum, then enter an amount and check the reward preview before confirming. Locked assets cannot be traded or withdrawn. The displayed rate already accounts for Bitvavo's commission, with no additional deduction from the committed assets.
Early cancellation is available through the active term's Manage control. Cancelling returns the original amount but forfeits that term's reward. Completing the term instead releases both the assets and their rewards automatically. A customer may then start another Fixed term or leave the balance in Auto Earn.
Someone needing access before maturity therefore compares a reward conditional on completion with a flexible holding. The cost of cancellation is the reward given up, even though the original quantity becomes available again. For a planned sale before the term ends, the higher annual number alone does not describe the outcome of that plan.
Lending consent and payouts need a separate check
Lending is administered through Bitvavo Custody B.V. and can support platform liquidity, margin trading and staking. Its help page separates optional Global Lending from assets that require lending consent before purchase. Consent to that second category covers other assets in the category too. Unlike the general setting, it cannot currently be switched off manually for those balances; the guide identifies selling or withdrawing as exit routes.
Lending rewards depend on the rate and the lowest daily asset balance. Balances below one euro do not generate rewards, and payouts are also subject to the asset's minimum reward threshold. Where both staking and lending apply, Bitvavo pays the higher defined rate rather than adding them together. The guide also warns that lending limits can temporarily prevent opting out when an asset approaches its lending cap. These conditions matter independently of the annual percentage shown beside a holding.
Lending rates can change even after participation begins. A published percentage therefore does not fix the reward on a lending balance for a month. The ongoing rate and calculation conditions remain relevant after consent.
Availability and risk remain part of the comparison
Availability varies by country. Bitvavo says staking and lending are outside MiCA, the EU crypto-asset framework, unlike its regulated exchange services. Counterparties may default; networks or smart contracts may fail. A rate schedule does not remove those risks or establish account eligibility.
