Coinbase Wallet adds 5- and 15-minute ‘Up or Down’ crypto markets outside the US

“Got 15 minutes to spare?”

Coinbase Wallet put a timer on prediction markets on 14 October: “Got 15 minutes to spare? Trade Up or Down markets in Coinbase Wallet.” The screenshot in the post shows a “15 Min Bitcoin” market with a countdown starting at 14:59, the current Bitcoin price next to a “Price to Beat”, and a link to read the rules.

On 22 October the wallet went shorter: “Not every market view needs a five-year thesis. Trade 5-minute crypto markets in Coinbase Wallet.” That image shows 5-minute BTC and ETH cards, each with Above and Below choices displayed with percentages.

The short crypto rounds sit inside Coinbase Wallet’s prediction markets, which arrived on 29 September with the line “Powered by @Polymarket”. A few days later the wallet listed the categories: “Sports, culture, crypto, politics.”

Who can trade, and the risk

Each post carries the same disclaimer: prediction markets trading is not available to users in the United States or certain other restricted jurisdictions, which the posts do not list. Coinbase Wallet warns that trading prediction contracts may result in the loss of your entire investment, and that contracts pay out only if the specified event occurs.

The posts do not give fees or minimum stakes. Read the market rules inside the wallet before trading; a five-minute window leaves little time to change your mind.

In the US: a separate Coinbase product

US users get a different version in the main Coinbase app. On 25 October Coinbase posted that live crypto price markets let you trade a prediction “with 15 min to daily timeframes on BTC, ETH or SOL.” Coinbase introduced these “up or down” crypto binaries in June. In the US they are offered by Coinbase Financial Markets, an NFA member firm, and Coinbase says its prediction markets are not available in Nevada.
