What ether.fi reported

ether.fi said on 17 October that its cardholders had spent $1 billion, across more than 12.6 million purchases. The company described activity spanning 199 countries and 131 currencies, illustrating the reach of card use rather than announcing a new product or promotion.

The company cited taxi rides, hotel stays and coffee purchases as examples. The figures were not independently audited; the post did not specify a measurement period or the exact threshold-crossing time.

Spending reach and card access are different

The geographic total should not be read as a list of countries where residents can obtain the card. Purchases also count transactions, not unique customers.

For payment mechanics, ether.fi’s help page distinguishes Direct Pay, which uses eligible vault balances, from Borrow Mode, which uses assets as collateral and charges interest. This documentation explains the card; it does not verify the milestone.
