Lower discounts take effect on existing codes
OKX Wallet lowered the maximum discount for invited traders from 20% to 10% on October 9, effective at 10:00 UTC. Discounts above the new ceiling are reduced automatically, including for traders already using an affected code. Smaller discounts stay unchanged. The announcement also introduces a lower starting referral tier, so both sides of an invitation need to distinguish the trader’s saving from the inviter’s payment.
For existing Level 1 inviters, OKX names August, September and October 2026 as the assessment months: reaching $20,000 in any one preserves a 20% total rate at the new Level 2. Otherwise, the new Level 1 rate is 10%. The notice does not give a separate completion date for that transition.
The level measures invited trading activity
The program rewards people who invite others to use OKX DEX, its decentralized exchange interface. A decentralized exchange is a trading service accessed through a crypto wallet. The inviter receives part of the interface service fee, while the invited trader can receive a discount. The volume used to assess an inviter is generated by invited traders across the codes associated with that wallet; it is not simply the inviter’s own trading balance.
The updated program guide lists seven levels. Level 1 has no volume minimum; Level 2 requires $20,000 monthly volume. The higher thresholds are $100,000, $300,000, $1 million, $3 million and $10 million, corresponding to total rates of 30%, 35%, 40%, 45% and 50%. A higher total rate is still divided between the two participants.
A discount applies to a fee, not the trade value
An interface fee pays for using OKX’s interface to transact on third-party decentralized exchanges. Its published schedule assigns rates according to the token pair: 0.1% for two Group 1 tokens, 0.25% for Group 1 against Group 2 or two Group 2 tokens, and 0.5% when either named group is paired with other tokens. Pairs entirely outside those groups have no interface charge. Group membership is updated separately, so the pair matters before any discount is calculated.
For illustration, a 10% reduction of a 0.5% interface fee produces a 0.45% fee. It does not subtract ten percentage points from the trade price. The schedule also lists exemptions, including native-token wrapping and specified protocol actions. A discounted interface fee therefore describes one charge for an eligible transaction; it is not a promise that every transaction or product costs the same.
The inviter receives the remaining share
The referral FAQ defines the inviter’s commission rate as the total referral rate minus the discount given to the invited trader. At the new starting level, allocating the full 10% to the trader leaves no commission for the inviter. With a 5% discount, half of that 10% total remains. These percentages divide the relevant service fee; they are not a percentage return on the assets traded.
The trader’s reduction happens when the order is placed, rather than through a later cashback payment. After settlement, any commission is paid in the token used for the service fee to the corresponding chain address of the wallet that created the code. The dashboard’s transaction records show the amount, receiving address and an explorer link, allowing the inviter to inspect an individual payment.
A code and its benefit are different records
Created codes cannot be changed or deleted, according to the program guide. The dashboard nevertheless keeps several distinct records: a code’s commission rate, the total commission it has generated, and individual invited users’ contributions. Looking at those records together helps distinguish a code’s identity from its performance and current rate.
Availability remains restricted
The public referral dashboard excludes users in Singapore, Australia, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. The update does not announce access for those places. It also distinguishes creating a code from using one: creating requires an OKX seed phrase wallet, while an invited trader activates a code through the supported wallet process. The geographical restriction concerns this wallet referral program, not a universal statement about every OKX service.
