Plasma replaced its Platinum invitation boost with $300 in spend credit for the inviter. A friend's paid Core upgrade earns $20 instead; a free Core trial does not qualify. The friend must have joined through the inviter's code, but these upgrade bonuses require no card spending. Awards are processed weekly after being earned. The invited friend receives no matching upgrade award, and ordinary invitation cashback remains separate.

What the credit can actually pay for

The Rewards Addendum defines spend credit as a conditional entitlement for eligible card purchases, not withdrawable money. It is applied automatically before the card-account balance. The amount it covers earns no further cashback and does not count toward reward thresholds. If a matched purchase is refunded, the credit is normally restored as credit rather than cash. Unused credit is forfeited when the account closes.

The same terms require an active account in good standing and identity verification. They also identify the Help Center as controlling conflicting programme amounts and thresholds. That is why the specific upgrade notice matters: the bonus should be read using its own stated conditions rather than a spending requirement copied from a different invitation offer.

The friend's Platinum upgrade has a separate commitment

Plasma's tier-lock guide explains that locking XPL commits the tokens for twelve months. The app's route is Tiers, then Upgrade, then Lock XPL, followed by review and confirmation. A confirmed lock activates the higher tier. The required token amount can change, so the guide and the app should be checked when making the decision.

Locked tokens cannot be released early. New cashback remains in a separate unlocked balance rather than automatically joining the lock. Upgrading from an existing Core lock to Platinum starts a fresh twelve-month period for the combined locked amount. The guide also warns that locked XPL carries token-price and smart-contract risk and is not an insured deposit. These are consequences for the person upgrading, distinct from the credit awarded to their inviter.

Where to check whether an award was actually paid

The tracking guide places invitations under Tiers, Invite Friends, then See your invites. Individual reward details show their status. A notification that a bonus was earned means a qualifying milestone was reached; it does not mean the reward is already available. The guide treats fixed bonuses and invitation cashback as separate records with their own payout status.

For an unresolved award, Plasma directs users to Get Help inside the app and asks them to identify the expected reward and displayed status. That is a more specific support request than reporting that an invitation did not work. The relevant question might be whether the friend joined through the code, whether Core was paid rather than a trial, or whether an earned award is still awaiting processing.

Keep the inviter's benefit separate from the upgrade decision

The change makes the incentive easier to state, but the two people still face different decisions. The inviter may gain purchasing credit. The friend must decide whether the tier's features justify the required payment or token commitment. An award in the inviter's account does not reduce the friend's cost unless the two make a separate arrangement; none is part of the announced upgrade bonus.

The relevant comparison for the friend is therefore the tier they would choose without the invitation reward. Which benefits would they use, and what would they need to commit to obtain them? In particular, a token lock changes when those tokens are available again. That is a different trade-off from paying for an ordinary purchase, even if both are displayed inside the same app.

Use the award against a real spending plan

For the inviter, the useful outcome is credit that can cover purchases they already intended to make. The practical sequence is to confirm that the upgrade award has been paid, understand which purchases can use it, and check the resulting payment record. This keeps the advertised award connected to usable value without treating an invitation, a pending notification and a completed card payment as the same event.
