A trading contest with simulated capital
TradingView has announced a Phillip Nova edition of The Leap, a competition using virtual trading money with real prizes for the highest-ranked eligible participants. Each entrant starts with a simulated $100,000. The competition includes sixteen instruments across US micro futures and major stocks, with markets such as equity indices, metals, oil and Bitcoin represented.
The rules require eligible residence in Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia and presence in an eligible territory when entering. Participants must be at least eighteen and meet their local age of majority. TradingView’s ordinary paper-trading feature is available more widely, but this contest has regional limits. No purchase is required; paid, trial, former paid and free accounts can qualify, subject to the rules.
[1] [2] [3]Register, then use the competition account
Trading runs from 5 October at 08:00 UTC until 23 October at 12:00 UTC. Registration closes on 17 October at 08:00 UTC. Joining after trading starts does not extend the finish. The event page directs users to sign in, join the contest and select The Leap in Paper Trading’s account manager. Trades in an unrelated practice account do not contribute to this leaderboard.
Participants must trade on at least three days to qualify for a prize. The rules count a day when a position is opened or closed during that UTC calendar day. Competition settings are fixed and the account cannot be reset. This makes account selection and the activity requirement more important than simply opening a chart.
[2] [4]Understand what the leaderboard measures
The event FAQ defines the ranking measure as realized profit and loss: the result of positions that have been closed. Open positions are automatically closed at the finish and their results then enter the final calculation.
For an invented example, suppose a participant has closed one position for a $400 gain and another for a $150 loss. Those outcomes add to $250. A separate open position showing a $300 gain does not make that closed-position total $550. Its eventual outcome could change before closure. This example explains the distinction, not a strategy, a live leaderboard calculation or an assurance that a particular score will win.
[4]Practise the controls before the contest opens
TradingView’s paper-trading guide describes a simulation with no deposit or real-money trading. From Supercharts, the general connection path is Trade, then Paper Trading, then Connect. That opens the practice environment; competition registration and choosing the dedicated account remain separate steps.
The guide describes three ways to manage simulated orders. An order ticket gathers the direction, quantity, order type and price conditions in one panel. Chart trading lets users place or adjust orders on the chart. The depth-of-market view displays bids and offers at different price levels. Knowing which interface is active helps separate changing an order from merely moving around a chart.
This is also a useful place to learn the difference between an instruction and a position: entering an order describes what you want to do, while the position reflects an executed trade. The practice interface is a training tool. Results obtained in it do not demonstrate that the same result could be repeated with real capital.
[3]Separate the prize from the practice balance
The announced cash awards are $3,000 for first, $2,000 for second, $1,000 for third, $800 for fourth and $500 for fifth. Places six through ten receive $200 each; places eleven through twenty receive a three-month TradingView subscription. Together, the cash awards total $8,300. The simulated account balance is not an additional payout.
The rules require winner verification; cash prizes must be claimed within fourteen days after the contest closes. Cash awards of at least $600 use wire transfer; smaller awards use PayPal. Subscription awards are applied automatically, with the plan depending on the winner’s account status. Taxes and required documents can also apply. Broker account-opening rewards mentioned in the announcement are a separate promotion, not this prize pool.
[1] [2]Check the data access attached to your account
The event page distinguishes access to the contest from access to real-time quotes: free users can compete with delayed data. The detailed rules also cover data access for paid, trial and former paid users. Check the category that actually applies to your account before interpreting the prices on screen. An entry confirmation alone should not be treated as confirmation of every data entitlement.
