ether.fi adds ZCHF: Swiss franc stablecoin can be spent with the card, borrowed against or used to buy stocks

What ether.fi announced

ether.fi said on its official X account on 30 October 2026, at 13:14 UTC, that ZCHF "is now supported across ether.fi". ZCHF is the Swiss franc stablecoin issued through Frankencoin, and ether.fi framed the launch as "your Swiss francs, with everything ether.fi offers".

The company named three things members can do with it. They can spend ZCHF with the ether.fi card and earn cashback, borrow USDC against their ZCHF, or use it to buy stocks in the app. ether.fi said the feature is "built for our Swiss members" and credited two partners, Frankencoin and the Swiss crypto payments company Mt Pelerin.

What has not been said yet

The announcement is short. ether.fi did not publish cashback rates for ZCHF spending, borrowing limits or interest rates for USDC loans against ZCHF, or which stocks can be bought with it. It also did not say whether members outside Switzerland can use ZCHF, or what role Mt Pelerin plays, for example in getting francs into or out of the app. Members should check those terms in the ether.fi app before moving funds.

Our take

Most crypto cards and stablecoin apps run on US dollars, so a Swiss user who spends in francs normally pays a conversion somewhere along the way. Holding a franc stablecoin and spending it directly with the card could remove that step for everyday purchases in Switzerland. Being able to borrow USDC against ZCHF also gives Swiss members a way to access dollars without selling their francs. Until ether.fi publishes the detailed rates, treat this as a new option to compare rather than a clear saving.
