A weekly reward on Cash

Phantom has added a rewards programme to its Cash account, the dollar balance inside the wallet. According to a Cash Rewards FAQ that Phantom’s help centre published on 5 October 2026 and last edited on 23 October, users earn a reward on the CASH they hold there. The app shows the rate as an annual percentage yield (APY); Phantom does not publish a fixed rate in the FAQ, so the current figure is only visible in the app.

Joining is opt-in. After adding Cash, users open the Cash section, tap the Rewards card, review the Cash Rewards Terms and tap Start Earning. Rewards begin with the next daily calculation. There is no minimum balance and no fee to enrol, earn or receive payouts, although a very small balance may earn less than a cent a day.

Rewards build up every day as an in-app estimate and are paid once a week, for the previous week, straight into the Cash balance in CASH. Because the payout raises the balance that earns, the effect compounds without anything to claim. Each payout shows up as a Cash Reward entry in History and can be checked as a Solana transaction.

Who pays, and what can change

Phantom is explicit that this is not lending yield. The FAQ says rewards are paid by Phantom Global, Inc. as a marketing expense, and the Cash balance is never lent, staked or deposited into a protocol. The Cash account remains a self-custodial Solana wallet, so there are no lock-ups or withdrawal penalties, and card spending, swaps and transfers work the same whether or not the user is enrolled.

That also means the rate is Phantom’s decision. The FAQ says Phantom can raise or lower it, or pause or end the programme, with changes applying only to future rewards. The terms, last updated on 21 October 2026, add that rewards accrue only while a user is enrolled and eligible, and that Phantom guarantees no minimum amount. Readers should treat the APY as a current promotional rate, not a promised return.

Not in the US, and a $1,500 tax checkpoint

Cash Rewards is offered to Cash users in most countries through the Phantom mobile app, but not in the US or in jurisdictions under US sanctions; the app says when rewards are unavailable.

No identity check is needed to start. Once all taxable rewards from Phantom in a tax year reach $1,500, counting Cash Rewards, referral rewards and other promotional payouts together, new rewards pause until the user answers whether they are a US citizen or resident. US persons complete identity verification with Phantom’s tax reporting partner; everyone else ticks a box confirming they are not a US person for tax purposes. Rewards then resume from the next daily calculation, but nothing is back-paid for the paused days, so it is worth answering the prompt promptly. Phantom also notes that rewards may be taxable wherever the user lives.

Firefox users should move to Chrome

In a separate help-centre guide added on 8 October 2026, Phantom says its Firefox extension no longer receives updates and recommends switching to Chrome. Nothing has to be sent anywhere: the funds stay at the same blockchain addresses, and the wallet is restored in Chrome with the same Google or Apple sign-in, recovery phrase, private keys or Ledger device.

Phantom’s advice is to back up those credentials first, keep the Firefox extension installed until every account, balance and collectible shows up in Chrome, and import any separately added private keys one by one, because restoring the main wallet does not bring them across.

Where USDC fits

CASH is a dollar-pegged balance, and Phantom’s FAQ lists swapping another stablecoin into Cash as one way to fund it; our earlier Phantom funding roundup explains which stablecoins and which network that route accepts. For readers choosing a self-custody home for USDC, Phantom is one option. Coinbase Wallet, the Base app, is another; its offer is in the closing box below. Check that the network you send on matches what the receiving address supports.
