A money app built around a balance, not an order screen
OKX announced Money on October 6 as a standalone app for saving, sending and spending digital dollars. The company is bringing several activities that often sit in different services into one product: holding dollar-backed stablecoins, earning rewards on eligible balances, making transfers and paying with a card. That makes the launch relevant to people who want a spendable digital-dollar balance as well as to existing OKX users who are comparing a new payment product with an exchange account.
The announcement describes a staged rollout in participating markets, but it does not name those countries or give separate activation dates. October 6 is the publication date of the announcement, not proof that every OKX customer can download the app or use every feature now. The article is hosted in OKX’s Europe section, but that path alone does not establish availability across the European Economic Area, the Netherlands or Turkey.
Funding converts into digital dollars
OKX says customers can fund Money using more than 50 supported currencies, with funds converted into dollar-backed stablecoins. The named balances are USDG, USDC and USDT. A stablecoin is a digital asset designed to track a reference value such as the U.S. dollar; it is still a crypto asset, rather than cash in a bank account. The company says users can convert between supported stablecoins without conversion fees, but the announcement does not publish a complete schedule for funding, withdrawals or card transactions.
That conversion step matters because the app does not describe keeping every deposit as local-currency cash. The balance shown after funding may be one of the supported digital tokens, and its value or availability depends on the product and local terms. OKX’s announcement also says digital assets can fluctuate and that products, rates and features vary by region and eligibility. A dollar reference is useful context, not a guarantee that every asset can always be exchanged one-for-one in every market.
Transfers and card payments are separate parts of the offer
Money also includes a transfer feature and virtual or physical cards. OKX describes transfers as part of the product’s international money flow, but the launch announcement does not spell out the recipient network, settlement time, transfer limits or whether the advertised conversion-fee language covers a transfer. Readers should keep those questions distinct: a fee-free conversion between two supported stablecoins is not, by itself, a statement that every way of moving money in or out is free.
For spending, OKX says customers can use a virtual or physical card for purchases at home or abroad. The company advertises zero foreign-exchange fees and no conversion markup when a purchase is made in another currency. Those statements describe the card’s currency-conversion treatment; they do not set out issuance, delivery, cash withdrawal, declined-payment or other card charges. Card access is also one of the features that can vary by country, so a general Mastercard acceptance claim does not confirm that a card is available to each reader.
The headline rates apply to different actions
The launch announcement advertises up to 10% APY on eligible USDG balances without staking or a lockup. APY is an annualized way of expressing a reward rate; “up to” marks a ceiling in the promotion, not a rate promised to every account or every balance. The announcement does not give a Money-specific rate table, balance cap, calculation formula or payout schedule. It also does not extend the USDG balance reward to the other named stablecoins. The announcement graphic itself shows a sample balance with a 4% APY label; that mock-up is illustrative and does not establish an individual customer’s rate.
Cashback is a separate, purchase-based feature: OKX advertises up to 10% on qualifying card purchases. The company also describes referral commissions tied to invited customers activating and using a card. The launch page does not set out eligible purchase categories, cashback caps, referral amounts or how long these rates will last. A separate OKX USDG Rewards terms page says that program’s rate can change, but OKX has not said in the launch announcement that those terms govern Money. Its exact local terms need to be checked separately.
The rollout is real; the local terms still decide who can use it
For a potential user, the concrete news is the combination of funding, digital-dollar balances, transfers and card spending in one app. The practical next question is not whether the headline says “worldwide,” but whether Money, its card and its reward features are enabled for the customer’s country and account. OKX’s separate USDG rewards terms say that reward rates are set by OKX and may be changed, and they state that USDG is not legal tender and a USDG balance is not a bank deposit. Those terms are useful context about USDG, but the launch announcement does not establish that every clause applies to Money.
The announcement leaves important product details open: launch countries, the responsible local OKX entity, custody and customer-protection arrangements, card issuance and withdrawal charges, reward tiers and cashback rules. That does not erase the product launch, but it limits what readers can safely infer from the “up to 10%” figures. Before adding money, customers need the Money terms shown for their location and the feature availability inside the app; the launch notice itself is not a country list or a full price sheet.
